Shuttle Crew Visit Portsmouth
Make the most of this amazing visit by Mission Commander Kenneth Ham and the crew of Shuttle Mission
STS-132 (including Briton Piers Sellers) to Portsmouth.
The visit will be the first public engagement for the crew after their mission, which touched down om May 27th
and will constitute the first official visit in their UK tour.
You can see the crew at the following events:
Sunday 27 June: 1600 - 1700 Southsea Common Bandstand, as part of 'Oh I do Like to be beside the Seaside!',
a free Victorian Family Fun Day, the culmination of the tenth annual Portsmouth Festivities where
they willl be setting off a spectacular daytime firework display and introducing the
theme for next year's Festivities 'Portsmouth - Space City'.
Southsea Bandstand is located in West Battery Gardens on the seafront behind the D-Day Museum car park.
Sunday 27 June: 1900 - 2000 Action Stations, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The astronaut crew, their Flight
Director and a NASA astronaut trainer will be in conversation about their careers as space pioneers and present
and narrate a film taken on the last scheduled mission of the Space Shuttle Atlantis which returned safely on
May 27th. The event includes an opportunity for the audience to pose questions to the astronaut crew.

Sunday 27 June: 2000 - midnight: Join us for a Gala Dinner on board Britain’s first iron-hulled,
armoured warship, HMS Warrior, celebrating her 150th anniversary this year.
As well as an opportunity to tour the ship and talk to the knowledgeable Quartermasters and guides who will
be on hand to answer questions, guests will enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the upper deck with the astronaut crew,
before moving below to dine and absorb the special atmosphere of this Victorian ship with an astronaut at
their table for part of the evening.
A truly stunning setting in which to meet and photograph the crew of an altogether different craft!

Profits generated from this event will be used to launch a competition to send a Portsmouth youngster to NASA.

Please note that there is no car parking available at the Historic Dockyard. There are public car parks
at Queen's Street or at Gunwharf Quays, which is within five minutes walk of the Dockyard.
Monday 28 June: 0900 - 1100 A series of locations across Portsmouth and Gosport are being as the crew
disperse to deliver individual presentations.
