Are you just starting out in Astronomy?
If you live anywhere near Chichester on the south coast of England, you may like to sign up for Ninian's astronomy nightclass held at the
Southdowns Planetarium and Science Centre.
Ninian Boyle who runs the astronomical equipment business Venturescope, and is the Equipment Expert for the BBC Sky at Night Magazine, is running an evening class at the South Downs Planetarium, Chichester designed just for you, the novice astronomer.
With the amazing facilities of the Planetarium 'star- theatre' and other 'high-tec' equipment you will
quickly find that the night-sky is no longer a confusing place and your telescope
is a powerful tool that can show you some of the most wonderful sights in nature.
The aim of the course is to make astronomy with a small telescope much more enjoyable and accessible for those who are just starting out in this fascinating subject.
Ninian will take you Step by Step through such things as:
- Setting up your telescope
- Polar Aligning your telescope mount
- What you can see with your telescope
- Starting Astrophotography
- Solar Observing - how to do it SAFELY!
- How to find and recognise things in the night sky
- A vist to a working observatory

Very clearly presented and clarified my understanding (or lack thereof!!) of RA & DEC.
